Corrections officer accused of workers’ compensation fraud
The Madison County grand jury issued an indictment Monday against Madison County Correctional Officer Saundra D. Bundy, 47, after she was accused of workers’ compensation fraud.
Bundy was suspended Monday without pay, pending the outcome of the indictment, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Bundy reported that she was injured while on the job on May 9, but the investigation found her claim was false and the injury did not occur while she was on duty, Sheriff’s Office officials said in the release.
Bundy is charged with insurance fraud and theft of property. She will appear for arraignment at 8:30 a.m. July 7 in Madison County Circuit Court, Division I.
She is being held without bond pending her arraignment.
Bundy has been employed with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office as a correctional officer since Aug. 25, 2008.
